Wellbeing

The Costello School is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our students. If you have any particular concerns regarding your child’s emotional health and wellbeing, please contact your child’s Head of Year via Classchart comms.

If you have a safeguarding concern or query at any time, please do not hesitate to contact us and ask for the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

We are mindful that student wellbeing is just as an important issue outside of school as it is in school.  The school has a Family Liaison Officer who works with families to support young people. The range of links and resources outlined on this page is by no means exhaustive.

Do you have a loved one who is involved with the Criminal Justice System , a useful website where ‘Worries and Concerns’ page has been added to the site (top right hand side of screen) and families can now select a prison to identify the relevant numbers to contact with their concern. Having all the Safer Custody and switchboard numbers in one place will considerably help families to share their worries and concerns with establishments. Amongst many other changes to the site, Pact has also updated the ‘Useful Links’ ( drop down list under support for families) which includes details of voluntary organisations supporting people in contact with the criminal justice system. Including Prisoners’ families helpline 0808 808 2003 – prisonersfamilies.org.

Child Protection

If you have any safeguarding concerns at all about a child, please call reception on 01256 321263 and ask to speak with our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mr Hulse, Assistant Headteacher.

If it is an emergency, please dial 999.

For further information and resources about keeping young people safe and helping them to make responsible choices please visit the Hampshire Police site www.safe4me.co.uk.

For more information about how we keep you children safe in school online, including the steps we take if remote education is provided for any reason and our approach to filtering and monitoring, please see our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, particularly section 11 and Appendix 6.
