The Modern Foreign Languages courses in KS3 and KS4 help develop students’ knowledge and application of a second language, focusing on the four communication skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
The majority of students have 3 lessons a week, in which they not only learn the language but also about the lifestyles and cultures of French and German speaking countries.
GCSE (AQA) course in Key Stage 4 will be based on the following topics:
Identity and Culture
Relationships – family, friends, marriage, partnership; Technology in everyday life—social media, mobile technology; Free time activities – media, food and eating out, sport; Customs and festivals in French/German-speaking countries/communities
Local, national, international and global areas of interest
Home, town, neighbourhood and region; Social issues – charity/voluntary work, healthy/unhealthy lifestyles; Global issues – the environment, poverty/homelessness; Travel and tourism
